This session will demonstrate how the gesture approach to language acquisition is being used to engage, evaluate, and meet diverse learning styles of students in a virtual/teleconferenced classroom environment. Based on Wendy Maxwell’s AIM method, all targeted words to be learned are taught in a kinesthetic, visual, and auditory manner.

Nancy is an FSL teacher at W.J.Mouat Secondary in Abbotsford, BC. where she has taught FSL and other courses in the French Immersion Program for the past three years at the secondary level. In addition, Nancy also teaches FSL for the Abbotsford Virtual School. Along with incorporating the AIM gesture approach to language learning /acquisition, she has developed an extensive online set of learning objects for her classes to access for review, remediation, and for use when falling behind.
 
Grant Gasser has been working as the Secondary Technology Consulting Teacher with the Abbotsford School District for the past two years concerned mainly with helping teachers integrate technology into their instruction and curriculum. Before that Grant taught high school Mathematics, Media Arts, Drama, and Information Technology.
