Albertasource.ca, the Alberta Online Encyclopedia, is well-known to its 1.5 million annual users, of which 70% are youth spanning K–12 and post-secondary students. We would like to give educators and administrators the opportunity to become more familiar with our experience in developing the 72 websites, navigation of Albertasource.ca, methods used for content creation, as well as the user feedback regarding the resource.

Adriana A. Davies, Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief, Heritage Community Foundation is a material culture specialist and was the Science, Technology, Industry and Material Culture editor of The Canadian Encyclopedia. She is an adult educator and has worked in the heritage field for more than 25 years as a researcher, writer and editor. She was Executive Director of the Alberta Museums Association and currently is the Executive Director of the Heritage Community Foundation (from 1999). She served on the Advisory Committee of the Canadian Heritage Information Network for six years and the Foundation’s first web development project was a part of the Learning with Museums projected that resulted in the creation of the Virtual Museum of Canada and the Canadian Culture Online Program. As part of this project, the Foundation examined curriculum across grade and subject areas and developed key words for metatagging. In the past eight years, she has developed 67 educational websites with extensive curriculum fits as well as customized teacher and student resources (edukits) with lesson plans, rubrics and student activities. She participated in the consultations in the development of the new Social Studies curriculum and is a popular presenter at educational, heritage and other specialist conferences as well as serving on provincial and national committees and peer juries. She was part of the convening of specialists by the Canadian Commission for UNESCO to develop the Canadian position on the digital heritage.
Nena Jocic-Andrejevic is an accomplished administrator and revenue generation specialist. Nena brings 17 years of experience to working in the non-profit charitable organizations and has assisted many organizations across Alberta and Canada, succeed in revitalization and fund development. Nena is a specialist to working with the non-profit sector and implementation of new technologies. She brings a wealth of marketing and branding experience and how that applies to product and organizational sustainability. Nena is an accomplished presenter and is also a certified Board Development Instructor, a Certified Fundraising Executive and an active community volunteer. She has served on numerous community boards and advisory bodies. She currently serves on the board of the Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations and is the Diversity Chair for the Association of the Fundraising Professionals, Edmonton Chapter.
