Alberta-North facilitates access to distance education courses and services from a learner’s home, workplace, or one the 80 Community Access Points (CAP) stewarded by its seven northern partner institutions. This session will describe the core menu of services and resources provided at a CAP, the concept of flex services, and how Alberta-North is extending its services into nontraditional communities.
About Val Marshall
Val Marshall has spent 20 years developing and enhancing distance education services for learners widely dispersed across the vast geography of northern Alberta. Her work with Northern Lakes Colleges included directing the growth of academic upgrading and learning support services for distance learning. In her current role with Alberta-North, she works with seven northern post-secondary institutions to remove barriers to quality learning opportunities for northern communities.
