What do students in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies have in common with Brazilian students living at the headwaters of the Amazon River? How can they explore both commonalities and differences using available technologies? This session will highlight an initiative dedicated to the facilitation of global learning opportunities for K–12 students.
About Doug MacLachlan
Doug is a Specialist with Innovative Learning Services of the Calgary Board of Education Doug works with teachers and school administrators to explore and implement technology enhanced teaching and learning initiatives. Doug earned his PhD in educational technology from the University of Calgary where he is an instructor in the Graduate Division of Educational Research.
About Nathalie Tremblay
Nathalie has been an employee of the Calgary Board of Education since 1987. She is currently the System Assistant Principal of the board's International Bureau. Her main focus right now is the creation of a website called CBEglobalconnect that will be launched during International Education Week (Nov. 12 - 16). Nathalie has taught in an international school in the Netherlands and has had a great passion for international education ever since.
