This session will delve into the issues around bringing to life the reality of creating accessible classrooms where all students are successful. We will discuss student diversity, the classroom environment, issues of success and failure, and how we can use technologies to enhance student learning and make differences ordinary. Research from accessible classroom projects in Alberta will be shared with participants.

Becky Pretli is a Education Manager with Alberta Education, Special Programs Branch. Becky teaching experience includes kindergarten, elementary, junior and senior high along with special education. She has worked in 3 school jurisdictions in Alberta as a Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal and Curriculum Consultant.
 
Kathy Howery is Education Manager with Special Programs Branch and is the lead on the Assistive Technology for Learning Initiative. Kathy has worked in the area of Assistive Technology and Special Education since 1982 most recently with the Assistive Device Service at the I CAN Centre in Edmonton.
