Incorporating Assessment FOR and AS Learning in Online English Language Arts by Cheryl Frose

This session will demonstrate how assessment for and as learning can be incorporated into distance education. Techniques include discussion boards, e-portfolios and self-assessments. Results enable teachers to meet the expectations of the mandated Grade Level Achievement reporting while simultaneously increasing student engagement and independence.

Cheryl has been involved in distance education at ADLC as a course writer, distance education tutor and teacher for the past nine years. She is a lead teacher for the ADLC Assessment for Learning AISI project and is striving to increase student engagement with distance learning materials.
