How can students demonstrate their understanding of concepts through various media? Using everyday software programs such as Inspiration, KidPix, PowerPoint, iMovie and Comic Life in various ways has helped to open up avenues of learning for many students. Students can explore the use of technology to communicate understanding of concepts in a visual format. Come and discuss the processes involved and view some student projects from Grades 1–6.

About…

Julie is currently teaching at Janet Johnstone Elementary in the Information Literacy role. This position at her school has allowed her to explore technology use with all students and students who have special needs. Her involvement in the Assistive Technology group has also been instrumental in assisting with this work. Using everyday software programs such as PowerPoint, iMovie and Comic Life in various ways has helped to open up avenues of learning for many students in her school who are not engaged in learning.

Wendy is currently teaching at Erin Woods Elementary as Vice Principal and in the role of Information Literacy. In an inquiry based environment with many diverse learning needs, her role has accelerated “the need to know” factor. Along with teachers and students, Wendy has been exploring how technology can enhance learning and provide entry points for all students.
