Impact of Generational Attitudes on Teachers’ ICT Use

As part of a three-year study into teacher use of 1-2-1 technology, this presentation shares initial findings of the link between generational characteristics and ICT use. Offered as a fun way to begin to understand how teachers’ use of ICT varies, the use of traits by generations is explored. For example, do Gen Y teachers adopt ICT differently from Boomers? Participant feedback is encouraged!

Susan Crichton is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She is in the specialization of Educational Technology, working on issues of online learning, equity of access, teacher preparation. She has been involved in international work (CIDA and Asian Development Bank).
 
Karen Pegler is a Calgary Board of Education specialist. Her role at Innovative Learning Services involves creating, facilitating and managing the e-PD courses. Karen comes to this position following many years of teaching senior high English where she witnessed the incredible transformational scaffolding that technology offers at-risk students. Karen is currently completing her Masters in Educational Technology at the University of Calgary.
